For a user to import all he has to do is click on the sprocket on the right side of his inbox, and then on Settings. Once there he goes to Accounts, Import, and then Import Emails and Contacts. When this option is selected he will be able, for example, to transfer emails from an Outlook account.

For this he will first have to indicate his email address and password. The process is automatic, and ShuttleCloud uses SSL and/or Auth security standards to guarantee security. When the process is finished the user will receive an email notifying him. At that time he will find a new folder in the left column of Gmail with all the emails that he has migrated.

Transferring contacts from Google’s address book is also very easy. The user only has to access Google Contacts, click More in the column on the left, and then click on Import, without leaving the platform.

How to enable importing from other webmail hosts in G Suite

The admin can allow their users to import email and contacts from non-Google webmail accounts, such as Yahoo!, Hotmail, or AOL. First, you must enable this feature in your Google Admin console. After that, users will see an extra function in the Accounts tab in Gmail settings.

To enable importing from other webmail hosts:

  1. Sign in to the Google Admin console.
  2. From the dashboard, go to Apps > G Suite > Gmail > Advanced settings.
  3. In the Setup section, check the box next to User email uploads to let users see the option to import mail and contacts from webmail or POP3 accounts, such as Yahoo!, Hotmail, or AOL.
  4. Tip: If you don’t see this section, select your account’s top-level organization under Organizations at the top of the page. This feature isn’t available when a sub-organization is selected.
  5. Click Save. There might be a delay before changes take effect.

How to remove ShuttleCloud Migration App from your Google Account.

Gmail utilizes ShuttleCloud to import your email and contacts into your Google Account.

Once the import is complete, you can remove access by following these simple steps:

  1. Go to your account permissions page (https://myaccount.google.com/permissions)
  2. Find Gmail ShuttleCloud Migration in the list and select it
  3. Click the blue REMOVE ACCESS button
  4. Click the OK button to confirm

What happens to my folders if I use the Gmail import tool?

If you transferred emails from a previous account utilizing the Gmail import tool, then that account’s labels/folders would have transferred as well.

A Gmail parent label will be created utilizing the previous account’s email address as a label name e.g. PreviousAccount@OldProvider.com.

All folders contained in the previous email account will be nested labels under this parent label.

How to import email from another Gmail account?

Gmail to Gmail email import. The simplest and best option is to use the import tool located within the Gmail interface. You can find the email and contacts import tool using these steps:

  1. Login to your Gmail account.
  2. Click on the Gear icon on the top right-most side of the Gmail interface and then select “Settings”.
  3. Under Accounts and Import select Import mail and contacts.
  4. Enter your account email address and then select Continue.
  5. Follow the steps on the screen.
  6. Click Start import.

How to import from Apple to Gmail?

Beginning on June 15th, Apple started requiring users to utilize app-specific passwords to access data using third-party apps.

Below you will find the step-by-step instructions on how to import from Apple:

  1.  Navigate to Appleid.apple.com from your web browser and sign in with your Apple ID and Password.
  2. Verify your identity with two-factor authentication.
  3. Under the Security section, select Generate Passwords.
    *If you do not see the option to generate app-specific passwords, you will need to enable two-factor authentication, which is different from two-step verification. Follow the steps under two-factor authentication “Get started.”
  4. Enter a label for the password. Such as “Google Contacts Import”
  5. Copy the app-specific password generated.
  6. Utilize this password for your import into Gmail.

Within Gmail you’ll need to follow these steps and utilize your app-specific password when prompted:

  1. Login to your Gmail account.
  2. Click on the Gear icon on the top right-most side of the Gmail interface and then select “Settings”.
  3. Under Accounts and Import select Import mail and contacts.
  4. Enter your account email address and then select Continue.
  5. Follow the steps on the screen.
  6. Click Start import.
